Skincare Swaps for Winters

Written by Editor's Desk | Dec 3, 2021 7:00:00 AM

Who doesn't love winter? Winter, which cools us both from the humidity of the monsoon season and the October heat, is pretty much our favorite time of the year. From comfy sweaters to gorgeous warm hues of the season, we can't wait to do it all.

The one thing we are not a fan of is dry, parched, and blotchy skin that often creeps up in cold weather. Fortunately, at Arvelon we picked out our favorite skincare essentials earlier this year. To help you do the same, here are some super hydrating winter skincare products to swap with your summer skincare products if you want happy, hydrated skin all through winters.

Let’s Get Swapping

  • Ditch the Gel and Water Based Products With Cream Based Formulations
Gel-formulated facial washes are super light, water-based, and leave skin feeling clean, fresh, and absolutely radiant. But unfortunately, gel products can potentially be harsh on the skin during the cooler months, leaving it feeling extremely dry, tight and blotchy. That's why you need to swap out your gel-based facial cleanser for a deeply hydrating cleansing cream. The Nourishing Milk Cleanser is formulated in a way that won’t disrupt the skin’s natural protective barrier or strip the skin off of its natural moisture. It is a gentle product with a blend of ultra-hydrating ingredients that reinforce the barrier to help the skin lock in moisture and attract hydration to the skin’s surface.

  • Opt For Micellar Water To Remove Makeup
While your average makeup remover will work most days, winters require additional maintenance and preferably gentler formulations. You don't want to use a product that dries out and strips your skin. So if you haven't given every beauty junkies fave, now is the time to give micellar water a try! Remove makeup like a dream and hydrate your skin while you’re at it.

  • Swap the Harsh Scrub With a Gentle Exfoliant
Exfoliating your skin regularly is extremely important in winter, as this will help remove dead skin cells and make your skin glow like never before! However, the use of harsh exfoliants can have adverse effects on the skin and can dry it out completely. Instead, we highly recommend trying exfoliators that contain skin-loving ingredients and are gentle such as the Nourishing Scrub that sloughs away and washes off the top layer of dead skin, without causing it to flake! Formulated with natural plant-based oils, shea butter, and natural walnut shell, it intensely nourishes while gently exfoliating the skin, taking away the feeling of parched, tight skin from the first application!

  • Lotions or Creams? Creams, Always!
Creams generally moisturize better than lotions because the ingredients that make them creamy also create a physical barrier that traps moisture within the skin. And since the sun (yes, even in winter) increases the dryness, choose one with sunscreen if possible. Nourishing Moisturizer is incredibly lightweight but it packs a powerful moisture punch, giving your skin a huge sip of hydration. It attracts and increases moisture levels for up to 24 hours, strengthens the skin’s barrier, and drenches your complexion in plumped hydration and luscious moisture.

  • Don’t Forget To Pamper Your Hands and Feet
Since body moisturizers a) only work if you use them, and b) are incredibly boring to apply, you might as well find one that smells so good and works so well that you really don't want to miss it! Our nourishing Hand & Foot Cream is clinically proven to moisturize for 12 hours, leaving dry hands & feet noticeably softer & smoother. It is rich enough that you can flip the tub over without spilling the cream, perfect for treating dry patches of skin.

Throughout the year, and especially in winter, we must practice solid skincare to take optimal care of our skin. These are our top 5 skincare swap suggestions for fall, but remember, always do what works best for YOU! Listen to your skin and don't be afraid to change things up with the changing of the season!
