5 Skincare Myths You Should Stop Believing

Do you often find yourself confused between what to do and what to skip in your skincare routine based on conflicting things that you have heard over the years? There are numerous skincare myths floating around that might be dragging your regimen game down! This is why we’re here to clear the air and put the myths to rest for once and for all.

Myth # 1 – No Sun Means No Sunscreen fq

Research has shown that SPF isn’t only restricted for days when you’re hanging out. It is even necessary when the skies are grey. Did you know it is even to get a nasty skin burn on a cloudy day? Yikes! This is where broad-spectrum SPF comes in. Be sure to make it a part of your daily skincare routine as spending time outside sans protection can lead to the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots down the line. For best results, apply it for 15 minutes before stepping out.

Myth # 2 – Skip the Moisturizer if You Have Oily Skin qw

When your skin is oily, the last thing you want is to add more oil, right? Wrong! There are numerous reasons that may be causing oily skin, from genetics to stress, diet, and even lack of hydration, oily skin can be caused by numerous factors. While you may think that ditching the moisturizer is the answer to all your oily skin troubles, the skin needs a moisturizer to make up for lost moisture. However, invest in a moisturizer formulated especially for oily skin as they are light, highly absorbent, and won’t make you break out.

Myth # 3 – Hot Showers Are Good for the Skin qq

As the saying goes, anything in abundance is dangerous. Although hot and steamy showers are extremely relaxing and a perfect way to end a long, tiring day - they aren't good for your skin. This is because they tend to dry the skin out, cause itching and be a reason for skin rashes! If the weather does not allow you to have cool showers, try to minimize the time you spend in a hot one!

Myth # 4 – Popping Pimples for Quick Recovery tt

NO. PLEASE. JUST DON’T. Take our word for it. Popping pimples is the first link in the chain of disaster. While popping pimples may appear satisfying, there is always a chance of pushing the pus deeper into the skin when you try to squeeze it. It also increases the chances of increasing the infection and leaving behind stubborn acne scars. And we don't want that, gorgeous.

Myth # 5 – You Are Too Young to Be Using an Eye Cream qqs

Okay, so this is something that we have all heard. Be it eye cream, anti-aging masks, or age-defying serums - there’s always somebody telling you it's too early to start using them. Our verdict? The skin around the eyes is thin and more delicate than the rest of your face, making it more susceptible to showing the signs of aging, this is why it's never too early to start using an eye cream.
